Established
in 1964, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a small, family orientated
church. We are a member of the Missouri
Lutheran Synod.
Mission
Statement:
Good Shepherd’s mission, as members of
the Body of Christ, is announcing to the world the Good News of Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior; through a Word and Sacrament ministry, supporting all to live
Christ like lives of prayer, love, service and fellowship.
Our
mission is followed through in many different ways. We conduct monthly services for the shuts-ins at
Tendercare and Clairebridge. We hold a Men’s morning Bible study group during the week, Sunday morning
bible study, topical small bible study groups, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Third Thursday Café (bible study
followed by lunch at a local restaurant), an annual Harvest Dinner for MSU’s
international students, and a Blind Outreach Ministry.
Our
Quilters group not only makes quilts that are donated to World Wide Relief, but
they take on other out reach projects such as personal care kits for a local
domestic violence shelter and sewing kits. The church is active with Christian Services by providing Thanksgiving
and Christmas Baskets to those in need. We also help cloth children for back to
school and Christmas gifts through a local domestic violence shelters and participate
in the annual Crop Walk.
We also
have a Parish Nurse, Karen Reynolds, who is here to help.
We
believe the church is people: people for whom Jesus Christ suffered died and
rose again.
The one constant reality of life
is the steadfast love of God for all people in Jesus Christ.
You are
welcome here!

Bringing Music To Worship
Written by Administrator
Monday, 07 June 2010
Members
of Good Shepherd have recently formed a Music Group which shared ideas regarding how
to enhance the worship services with assorted music styles. Music is selected from Lutheran Worship (the “blue” hymnal), Lutheran
Service Book (the “brown” hymnal which we are currently using),
The Other Song Book, and the music book recently created for
Contemporary
Worship Services.
The
Music Group works together with Pastor Straub to coordinate music from
all of the available resources as well as to introduce new songs to
the congregation. Members of the group present special
music selections during services.
We are always looking for people who might be interested in
working
with us to create Power Point presentations and/or run the computer
during services. We are also seeking anyone that might be interested
in singing or playing an instrument. Our practices are informal
in nature – so if you just like to sing or play an instrument, please
join us!
If
you have a desire to be part of this group (voice, instrument, computer,
or simply “ideas”), please contact Myrna Tate at (517) 285-7996.
